So this was a potion mentioned in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. (http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Draught_of_Peace) It has powdered moonstone, syrup of hellebore, and powdered unicorn horn. These however are not ingredients I can get, this isn’t Pottermore. I can read all about them, but considering I have no idea what ‘hellebore’ is, this became a recipe that calls for creative liberty. So I started thinking about what helps me sleep. Chamomile was my #1. The powdered moonstone could be ginger, which is also a soother, the syrup could be honey, and…aw hell the unicorn horn is the lemon juice. My logic is flawless.
I just had a sip of this tea, and I had to type to my friend group on Skype that I just made awesome tea. I’m making this from now on. This really is a tea that makes you feel better, calms you down, and helps you sleep. I recommend it for anyone feeling crappy right now.
DRAUGHT OF PEACE (better than a chill pill)
- 1 chamomile tea bag
- 1 medallion of ginger (a bit less than what would fit in a tablespoon)
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 teaspoon lemon juice (bottle or fresh who cares)
- Boiling water
Boil the water in a kettle. Put your tea bag and ginger chunk into the cup, and fill with water. Cover and let it seep for a few minutes, prodding the tea bag and ginger to the bottom and pressing it them against the side of the cup occasionally. Once it’s been a little while, generally abuse chamomile tea bag to get all the flavor out. Do the same with the ginger piece to have all its juices seep. Fish both out, add the honey and lemon juice, and stir to combine. Now enjoy and feel at peace, that’s what it’s for.
